Open Your Door to a Forte Exchange Student
Are you ready for a change to your daily routine?

Are you ready for a spark of inspiration?
Invite an international high school student to live in your home for a few weeks, one semester or even a full academic year. Living in the United States makes you the perfect cultural ambassador to guide our exchange students as they strive to expand their worldview and learn more about American customs. Things as simple as sharing meals together, attending high school sporting events, listening to music, or playing a board game are all perfect ways to share U.S. culture with an international student.
If you’ve been searching for a way to teach your children about other countries or for an opportunity to enrich your daily life, hosting an exchange student is the perfect opportunity to change your perspective without leaving your own backyard.
About hosting:
- We are accepting applications for families of all types, shapes, and sizes! Whether you are an empty-nester, a single parent, a same-sex family, or a family with children still living at home, we are excited to have you host our students!
- You will get to choose a student to match your family’s traits and hobbies.
- Students will arrive with their own medical insurance and spending money to cover their personal expenses.
- Your exchange student will attend your local high school.
- Host families provide room and board as well as their patience and parental guidance.
- A Forte local representative will be available to answer questions and provide support to you and your student throughout their program. We are always here to help!
Forte International Exchange Association is a non-profit organization that has been bringing exchange students to the United States since 2000. We are looking forward to helping you begin your journey as a host family.

Description
Since 2000, Forte International Exchange Association has offered the opportunity for academic and cultural exchange to international high school students who would like to come to the United States on a J-1 Visa.
Public diplomacy is at the core of the J-1 Visa exchange program. Our students learn about American culture, customs and ideals while living with American host families and attending high school. Host families in return learn about the customs, culture, and ideals of the students they host. FIEA has close partnerships with overseas agents that carefully screen and select students with the appropriate age, background, English language skills, and attitude for participating in the international exchange program, while American host families are screened through a process that includes a criminal background check, home inspection, and host family interview.
FIEA is regulated by the U.S. Department of State guidelines, ensures that each Local Representative is certified by the Department of State, and adheres closely to the rules and regulations that are in place to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of each student.
FIEA is an independent nonprofit educational and cultural exchange program based in the Greater Washington, DC area. FIEA is a designated sponsor for the J-1 Visa.
FIEA is endorsed by the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET).
