Ambassadors provide knowledge of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and services provided by The Haven by tabling at the Irvington Farmers Market on the first Saturday of the month beginning in May and ending in November.

Mission Statement

The Haven Shelter and Services, Inc. is committed to preventing and eliminating all types of intimate partner violence and sexual assault within our service area which includes Westmoreland, Richmond, Essex, Lancaster and Northumberland Counties. The primary focus of The Haven's mission is to provide advocacy and shelter for identified victims of partner abuse and sexual assault as well as to provide support services to victims and their families. To greater further its mission, The Haven seeks to enhance public awareness of intimate partner violence and sexual assault issues through community outreach and education. Description

The Haven provides services to victims of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Services include crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, court and systems advocacy, court and hospital accompaniment, public education, 24-hour hotline, and emergency shelter. All services are free of charge.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 16
  • 8am-1pm the first Saturday of the month (5 hours; once a month)
  • Picking up/dropping off table and tent prior to/after the event at the Administrative Office*, setting up/breaking down tent and table, collecting donations, passing out brochures, and raise awareness of the services of The Haven.
