Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program: Assistant Coordinator Volunteer



Purpose:

A VITA Assistant Coordinator volunteer contributes to community impact by providing VITA site coordinator including planning, organizing, and communicating with VITA volunteers. The Assistant Coordinator also serves as a supporting role to the VITA Site Coordinator(s) by promoting various aspects of the program such as community outreach and reporting volunteer attendance and hours.

Responsabilidades y funciones:

Advise and enhance development operating procedures and other administrative tasks.

Assist Agency staff and volunteers with data entry and processes related to internal platforms/tools.

Enter tax information into the appropriate software, obtain E-File authorization, and prepare taxes within certification level and within the scope of the VITA program.

Adhere to IRS Quality Site Requirements, including maintaining taxpayer privacy and confidentiality standards, and code of conduct.

Attend and obtain Tax law certification and any additional IRS training certifications

Demonstrate a positive attitude and welcome a collaborative work environment.

Aid the volunteer program which may include supporting strategic planning, reporting, developing volunteer content, and participating on meetings as needed.

Adhere to Agency privacy and confidentiality standards, and code of ethics.

Communicates with individuals in a respectful manner and responsive approach to differing beliefs and practices, sexual orientations, disability statuses, gender identities, ages, cultural preferences, linguistic needs, and other state and federal protected statuses.

Organized and detail-oriented

Verbal and written communication skills

Critical and analytical thinking

Creative and innovative within a professional environment

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Complete all IRS training requirements: Volunteer Standards of Conduct, Intake/Interview and Quality Review, the Volunteer Certification System, and the Tax Law Certification



Qualifications

Proficient in English; and proficiency in Spanish strongly desired

Demonstrate good judgement

Willingness to provide a pleasant and welcoming environment

Adapts well to a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and works effectively within a team

Basic technological knowledge
