The Power of Life Foundation Led by a Birmingham Police Officer Hosts a Free Backpack and Free Food Giveaway for Jefferson County Students

After traveling across the southeast United States giving away more than 350,000 free cloth face masks and over 425,000 pounds of free food, Lane Harper’s Power of Life Foundation presents a Free Back-to-School and Free Food Giveaway at Legion Field. The Foundation will also give away free nutritional food boxes for 500+ families.

When: Sunday, August 1, 2021

Time: 10 AM to 1 PM

This exciting venture will bring free face masks, hand sanitizers, 1,000 free backpacks with school supplies, and special treats from local vendors for the students in Jefferson County and its surrounding areas.

Founded by Lane Harper, Executive Director and Teresa Berger, Associate/Marketing Director, the Foundation’s goal is to ensure children have the necessary items needed for a successful school year, while assisting families with food insufficiency.

Lane Harper is a Birmingham Police Officer, a member of the National Organization for Black Law Enforcement Executives, (N.O.B.L.E.), a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, who constantly bridges the gap between law enforcement and the public by giving back daily.

This event is for students of all ages and will support the Jefferson County area while increasing family unity, local community partnerships, and volunteer engagement.

To provide an underserved population facing difficult times with daily basis needs nationwide. These needs include assistance with utilities, temporary housing, providing nutritious food, clothing, employment resources, promoting health and wellness, and youth mentoring.

The Power of Life Foundation has successfully distributed more than 2 million reusable cloth face masks and over 2.5 million pounds of food across the United States.
