Our Disaster Action Teams respond to disasters in our local communities 24/7 to provide support to community members in their times of need.
Are you organized and flexible, and do you like to talk on the phone? Would you like to be
essential to initiating coordinated assistance during times of disaster? If you answered yes to
these questions, then the role of DAT Duty Officer might be something that interests you.
DAT Duty Officers are the lynchpin that holds a Red Cross disaster response together. DAT
Duty Officers receive notification from clients and agencies requesting assistance during a fire,
flood, or other disaster. They assess the situation and deploy the most appropriate resources to
support efforts such as initial casework and recovery planning, canteen services, sheltering, and
disaster assessment.
The DAT Duty Officer ensures the response team has the tools, knowledge, and resources they
need in order to deliver quality services, all while monitoring the situation and providing support
from the comfort of their own home.
