Project Description:

The Commonpoint Queens Volunteer Services Department seeks volunteers to teach the Python programming language to students of our Beacon afterschool program at M.S. 158.

This is an in-person volunteer opportunity. Volunteers are asked to commit to one class a week. Classes are held from 3:45pm to 5:45pm Monday through Friday.

Prospective volunteers must have the following skills:

  • Proficiency in Python 3;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication;
  • The ability to teach in a classroom of 10 students or more.

Commonpoint Queens is a non-profit, multi-service agency with flagship sites in Little Neck, Bayside, Forest Hills, and 33 additional sites throughout the community that provides a diverse array of programs and services to over 35,000 people. Description

For almost 60 years, Commonpoint Queens (formerly The Samuel Field and Central Queens YMWHA) has remained strong and vital and has continued to provide new and innovative programs to the greater Northeast Queens and Western Nassau communities.

As we embark on our sixth decade of providing high quality programs and services to our community, individuals of all ages learn and flourish within a caring and supportive environment at one of our 36 different sites throughout our neighborhoods.

We continue to provide life enhancing and life sustaining services to the over 35,000 people who depend on us to be their community center at each stage of their lives.
