Want to do something about food waste and hunger on your own schedule? Food Rescue US has solved one of the biggest barriers to food donation: transportation. We enlist volunteers to use their own cars to transfer healthy excess food from businesses that have too much to agencies serving people with too little. Our easy-to-use software allows volunteers to self-select food rescues that fit their schedules; the whole process usually takes under an hour and it's extremely rewarding. To date, local food rescuers have transported over five million pounds of food to neighbors experiencing food insecurity, keeping it out of landfill which is good for the environment.The New York Times recently included becoming a Food Rescue US volunteer as one of nine ideas to make the world better-so join us! Our food rescues take place every day from different pick up and drop off locations at different times. You can use our website to sign up for individual rescues, or email us.
