Do you have bad knees? Are you recovering from surgery? Are you concerned about walking big strong dogs that pull like a team of wild horses? Are you unable to walk shelter dogs for another reason but still wish to interact with them?
As an alternative to being a "Dog Walker", we have a "Shelter Guardian" position.
A "Shelter Guardian" is the third person who stays at the shelter during the AM or PM shift performing various shelter tasks while the two "Dog Walkers" are out walking dogs.
Job Description:
Because the Guardian remains at the shelter while walkers are out walking, all of the outdoor exercise areas can be utilized and the shelter can remain unlocked.
Dogs will get more time getting fresh air and exercise (reducing accidents in kennels).
Guardians with cell phones can be called if a dog-walker needs assistance.
