Here are the descriptions of the 2023 San Antonio Film Festival volunteer positions that we are offering:

1)

MARKETING, PR and DEVELOPMENT

Job Description: Responsibilities include assisting the Director of Marketing with research, grassroots efforts and internet marketing strategies. This includes working with social media, flyer design, event promotion, etc. During the Festival: Assisting with flyer distribution, red carpets, social media, and more.

A typical day will include negotiating festival promotion for food trade with local restaurants, digging up any info you can on a potential sponsorship target, assisting in writing a marketing proposal for a local business, and updating our sponsorship database.

Skills Needed:

  • Timeliness, reliability and responsibility are key

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate effectively and meet deadlines
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to think outside of the box
  • Comfortable on the phone
  • Creative Writing
  • Adobe Suite knowledge a plus, but not required
  • Spanish a plus, but not required.

Job Requirements: People skills and time management skills are a must. Intern must be comfortable on the phone and a creative writer. Requires the ability to give attention to detail. Marketing/Sales Background preferred, but not required.

2) CONFERENCE & FILM MARKETING

Job Description: The filmmaker panels celebrates film and television. Held during the Friday and Saturday of the Festival, the 2-day event features panels and workshops that cover all aspects of the art, craft and business of screenwriting from the working professionals themselves - Hollywood writers, directors, producers, agents, managers and production company executives. Interns will assist the Festival Director in coordinating these numerous panels, including extensive research on incoming guests, potential speakers and topics, trends in the industry and ultimately playing a large role in the overall event preparation, management, and logistical organization.

In addition this internship will focus on creating and implementing marketing strategies for the 2022 San Antonio Film Festival, as well as year round events and general brand awareness. Interns will develop marketing plans, reach out to relevant organizations, universities, and publications, post call for entry information to websites and social media platforms, and keep track of each strategy’s effectiveness. A prospective intern should be comfortable with computers, especially Word and Excel, efficient, punctual, outgoing, and good with people. Job Requirements: We are looking for applicants who are highly organized, communicative, and self-starters. Applicants need to be comfortable with both research projects and jumping on the phone with filmmakers and organizations.

Job Requirements: People skills are a must. It is preferred that you have an interest in film and film-related events. Interns that take part in the execution of the panels leading up to and throughout the Festival are expected to act as hosts for incoming speakers and registrants alike, manage high-volume situations with ease, and oversee a team of volunteers to ensure as smooth of an event as possible.
Ideal candidates should have an equal interest in both event production and the film industry.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Working with social media (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook)
  • Designing flyers and other artwork
  • Researching, compiling, and updating marketing lists
  • Analyzing data
  • Attending and working SAFILM events.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a major plus.
  • Spanish a plus, but not required.

For varying hour work days students can start now until August 5 and learn the film industry interning with the 29th San Antonio Film Festival.

SAFILM-San Antonio Film Festival serves a broad spectrum of individuals from school-age children to college students, adults, filmmakers, film industry pros and cinema arts aficionados including local audiences and guests from across the country and around the world. SAFILM has tremendous value thanks to the access and networking opportunities it provides to local filmmakers that would otherwise not be available here. The workshops and educational panels are provided for free to everyone during the Film Festival to ensure they are accessible to people of all income levels.

Our audiences include press, filmmakers, industry and community leaders and die-hard fans. The San Antonio Film Festival sets up an inviting, creative and innovative environment for just a few days every year where opportunities for one-on-one networking abound, connections are forged, and filmmakers are presented with a slew of unique opportunities to share ideas, engage in cultural exchanges and advance their careers. As an accessible and inclusive platform for cinema artists, the San Antonio Film Festival also brings together scores of new and original films and talent from across the country and around the world to inspire, elevate and edify cinema lovers as well - giving local audiences access to independent films that might otherwise never be seen in our area.
