Small Wonders Entertainment's mission is to bring high quality, dignified,puppet entertainment to Senior Citizens and Memory care groups and elicit great memories, engagement and Joy for this often underserved community!

Description

Most of us have had the experience of visiting or moving a loved one into a care facility. For me , it was my mother/ my best friend, and her journey became my journey. As my Mom's needs became greater and her dementia worsened, I vowed to make her days more than maintenance..I wanted her to smile and have a laugh or 2. I alsostarted training my 100 lb Golden Retriever to be e therapy dog and we practiced at Mom's place. Mom passed, but I continued to visit Senior citizens with my dog.I was running from a puppet show at Austin's Thinkery/children's museum to my senior citizen visit. My seniors asked to see my puppets, which i dismissed, but they insisted.I thought they would be bored, but I was so wrong! The residents were engaged, they laughed and asked fro more. and so the mission began. Since that initial visit began, Small Wonders Puppet Theater became a 501(c)3 nonprofit and the show Senior Follies was launched. I have built a new stage, new puppets,lighting, sound track, costuming,marketing advertising, fundraising grant writing,phone conversations,shows performed for Meals on wheels Respite groups as well as Alzheimer's assoc. respite groups, Senior citizens facilities and memory care facilities. We are growing and in need of volunteers, with a variety of expertise.the hope is todo more shows for many groups in this growing community and build new shows for the residents.
