We are Volunteer Services, a non-profit program overseen by Catholic Community Services. We work with volunteers to meet the needs of independently living low-income seniors and adults with disabilities in Thurston, Mason, and Lewis counties. We are currently in high need of volunteer drivers who can become eligible to drive for our Medicaid contracted clients. This involves a higher mileage reimbursement than our regular trips, and driving Medicaid clients to and from their medical appointments in your own vehicle. Clients are taken individually and not as groups, COVID protocols are strictly observed, and CCS offers extended liability/accident/auto insurance for drivers, as well as mileage reimbursement. This is a federal contract so drivers are expected to have a clean driving record and up-to-date auto insurance and driver's license. These trips can be shorter and go within adjacent counties, or you may have opportunities to travel across several counties to bring clients to their essential medical appointments that they otherwise could not get to and would not have transportation for.

Mission Statement
We believe every child should grow up in a safe, loving and nurturing environment We believe the elderly should be able to live with security and dignity. We believe healthy family life should be affirmed and supported in our communities We believe in compassion, love and respect for all people, especially the poor and most vulnerable. We believe in joining with others to change systems that oppress, discriminate or otherwise cause human suffering. We believe employees and volunteers should work in an environment that fosters respect, teamwork and excellence. We believe in all of these things for all people, whatever their color, whatever language they speak or however they worship.
Description
Our program exists as a safety net for low-income elders and people with disabilities (also low-income)by providing them with services that allow them to remain living as independently as possible in their own homes (not assisted living). For example, a 89 year old woman who only collects $600/mo. in Social Security needs help with her lawn. She can't afford to pay someone, and if her lawn goes a couple of months without being mowed, now the lawn is a fire hazard.
