Bideawee is looking for Foster Volunteers to foster shelter animals (dogs and/or cats) from our Westhampton and Wantagh Locations!
Responsibilities: Responsible for the daily care of a foster animal, including feeding, exercising, playtime, socialization, and providing patience, love and security. Bideawee will provide all necessary medical care and supplies needed for fostering and our Foster Department will provide full support throughout the foster period. Volunteers must be willing to work with their foster pet to help them get ready for adoption/socialize and spend time with their foster animal. This may include housebreaking, basic training, socialization, etc. You may also need to transport the foster animal to scheduled medical appointments and/or adoption events as well as administer any required medications. Fostering is rewarding because you can provide a shelter animal a safe, loving space to call home until they find their forever homes. Fostering also allows Bideawee the space to keep taking in more rescue animals.
Requirements: 20 years or older with compassionate nature, flexibility, willingness to follow instructions and interest and/or knowledge of animal behavior. Frequent email updates are required, and responsiveness to our team is critical. Reliable computer, internet service and transportation. Foster volunteer must be willing to submit to a criminal background check to ensure the safety of our animals. Cat/kitten fosters are indoor only and puppies under 5 months are also indoors only.
