The Bird Gardens of Naples is home to approximately 150 parrots. Feeding and cleaning up after these birds is a daily task. The majority of the birds live in outdoor aviaries. These birds must be fed daily. The aviaries need to be cleaned weekly at the minimum. There are multiple indoor facilities. These birds receive food and clean water dishes daily. The indoor facilities must be cleaned daily. At one point our organization had a different volunteer coming each day to help with these tasks. Due to the Covid Pandemic we have lost most of our weekly volunteers. My goal is to sign up 14 weekly volunteers and have 2 volunteers per day to help with the task of cleaning and feeding. If you are only able to volunteer bi-weekly that is ok. If you are interested in volunteering monthly or less frequently we have other positions that would be better suited for your schedule.

Mission Statement

The Bird Gardens of Naples is a non-profit organization whose sole concern is parrot welfare in captivity and conservation of wild parrots. We are an outreach and placement program which places into safe custody, parrots which are abandoned, abused, or in need of a home for any reason.

Description

Parrots are intelligent, highly social and complex beings with lifespans of up to 100 years. We actively support networking with other parrot welfare groups, animal welfare organizations, the veterinary community, conservation organizations and the general public. Education is of the utmost importance concerning the well being of a parrot and its ability to successfully live with its human companions. We are always in need of dedicated volunteers to help with a variety of tasks. Feeding, cleaning and maintaining the welfare of our birds is a top priority. Help needed in other areas include: landscaping, project construction, and general property maintenance.
