ORGANIZATION: Father Joe's Villages

During the COVID-19 pandemic Father Joe's Villages had to shift from its traditional cafeteria-style meal service to providing meals for pick-up by unhoused neighbors. Volunteers are needed to support this effort by packaging food in to go containers and getting meals ready to be transported. Volunteers also assist in setting up the food for the next meal in their dining room.

Volunteer duties are not limited to one task and can include: packaging food in takeout containers, cleaning up the immediate work area, disposing of empty containers, and setting up the food serving area for the next meal.

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

Signing up: All volunteers must sign up on the Father Joe's Villages volunteer platform, prior to volunteering at any of their projects. You'll need to create an account and sign up for the shift you would like to attend, no join code needed.

Shifts: Daily, 2:30pm - 4:30pm

Skills, qualifications, and requirements: Friendly volunteers with a good attitude that work well with professional staff, residents and other volunteers that are able to follow policies and procedures and understand verbal instructions.

Attire: Long pants, a blouse or shirt with sleeves (long or short), and closed-toe shoes.

Safety: All volunteers are asked to wear a face mask. The following will be provided on your volunteer date: Latex gloves, hairnet, and apron. Father Joe's Villages is requiring staff, clients, and volunteers to follow CDC guidelines on mask wearing and they are continuing to practice social distancing efforts through floor signs, limited capacity, plexi-glass, etc. Homeless shelters fall under the same order as health care workers and are required to have proof of vaccination on file. FJV staff, volunteers, and vendors must meet this requirement. To comply with this order, they will need to have vaccination cards (front and back) sent to their Volunteer Services Department before volunteering.
