Your local American Red Cross office is seeking volunteers in your area to serve on our information and planning team to assess damage from local disasters, particularly house fires. Are you a caring individual who wants to be on the front lines of emergency support? This could be a great way for you to give back to your community in a meaningful way. Here is what you could do as a Disaster Assessment Team Member:
Information and Planning is responsible for gathering assessment and operational data required for effective management of a response, including information about the scope of the disaster and the effectiveness of the response. The data compiled by Information and Planning supports reports to donors about the effective use of the resources they have provided to the Red Cross.
This position is responsible for the tasks involved in the Information Planning program including:
1) Planning activities including Analysis and Planning, Disaster Assessment, Financial and Statistical Information, and Information Dissemination.
2) Management and use information management technology platforms for Disaster Response and Recovery (DSARS, RCView, etc.)
3) Providing operational planning support in both Blue Sky and Gray to events
4) Consider training to assist with larger scale national disasters in a variety of basic and advanced leadership roles
In addition to being a caring person we are seeking someone who is passionate about our Red Cross mission, has at least basic computer skills, effective communication skills, and flexibility.
