What’s at Stake?
As the Network Administrator, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our organization’s IT infrastructure. • Preferably local to the Seattle, WA area, but after an initial meeting, you can work remotely!

Position Overview
The Network Administrator will manage all IT systems used at Black Dawg Farm and Sanctuary, ensuring that our systems are secure, optimized, and aligned with our mission. You’ll be responsible for overseeing data integrity, cybersecurity, and network communications, guiding our technology strategy, and developing a long-term tech roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead IT strategies to support BDFS growth
  • Ensure data security, compliance, and risk management
  • Manage teams of volunteers, consultants, and interns
  • Oversee system integrations, performance objectives, and tech budgeting
  • Advise senior management on tech initiatives to support BDFS goals
  • Develop new systems, applications, and software to improve operations
  • Lead the evaluation and improvement of BDFS’s IT operations

Ideal Candidate

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in IT, network administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years in network management or a similar tech role
  • Proficient in office automation, project management, budgeting, and network operations
  • Strong communicator who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment

Why Volunteer with Us?

  • Make a direct impact on a growing sanctuary that saves the lives of rescued animals.
  • Challenge yourself with a unique volunteer role that combines tech expertise with real-world problem solving.
  • Be part of a passionate team where your contributions truly matter.

Description

Black Dawg Farm and Sanctuary started in 2014 with two horses from the kill pen, it has since grown and evolved from there. We are located in Rainier, Washington on 10 beautiful acres of farmland nestled in Thurston County. We are a farm animal sanctuary that provides a lifelong home to the animals in residence.

We do not adopt out any animals.

Many of the animals are not considered adoptable due to age, nature of injuries, psychological and emotional trauma. This is their last chance for a home, where they are loved, cared for and are allowed to be happy individuals.

We receive the animals through other animal rescue agencies, the sheriff's department, abandonment and owners that are no longer able to care for their animals.

We are making a difference in the community through education and awareness. Our Vision and mission guide us in everything we do and how we will continue to proceed in the future.

Besides being a farm animal sanctuary, we are an educational learning center- teaching the public about the social and ethical responsibility of animal ownership. We do this thru educational tours, hands-on-learning, and by hosting professionals who are experts in their field- come and speak. We believe that the human-animal bond is crucial to to mental health and well-being. These animals that were once unwanted are able to teach us about love, empathy and so much more.
