Title: Talent Acquisition Intern

Department: Human Resources Department

Internship & Task Supervisor: Human Resources Director, Dalamu Sherpa, d.sherpa@iraiseinc.org. Expertise in Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, Employee Benefit Program and Employee engagement, Payroll, etc.

About: I'RAISE is a small BIPOC led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in NYC. We provide 100% free educational resources, programs, and services to vulnerable families and children in under-resourced and under-served communities in NYC since 2013 and virtually since 2022. We provide free programs such as tutoring, mentoring, coaching, college and career preparation, parent support, virtual performing arts classes, and much more. Summary: As a Talent Acquisition Intern you will be working with our full-time HR Director and a small group of 3 to 4 HR volunteers. An important concept of talent acquisition is that it is an ongoing process of attracting and engaging talent with specific, and sometimes niche skills, experiences and perspectives. This internship role requires the intern to be more strategic. Time: 10 to 15 hours a week Commitment: 4 to 6 months commitment Start date: Flexible. Depends on when you would like to start Location: Virtual / Remote

Daily life of a Talent Acquisition Intern:

  • Send initial outreach email to interested volunteer/intern/ job applicants (email template provided)
  • Set up phone / virtual interviews and conduct phone / virtual interviews (template/instruction provided), write interview notes, and email the interview note to respective supervisor if the candidate meets the requirements for the interviewed role/position
  • Assist with editing and reviewing job descriptions or position descriptions
  • Do character reference checking (template and instruction provided)
  • Send out welcome letter packet (template provided)
  • Be familiar with current HR recruit trends
  • Be strategic and proactive in finding ways to recruit talent with specific skillsets and experiences for our community-focused volunteer, internship, and job positions
  • Outreach to universities and colleges to introduce internship / job opportunities - build or keep strong relationship with college / university partners
  • Your out-of-the box thoughts and creativity is valued and welcomed in our HR team
  • Conduct HR orientation / training (powerpoint and instruction provided)
  • Assist HR director with capacity building within the HR department to continually improve recruitment strategies; reaching the goal of being effective and efficient
  • Assist with recruitment tasks as assigned
  • Note: As I'RAISE is a small non-profit company, the recruitment phase is high or low depending on the time of the year
Desired Experience / Qualifications:
  • College student working towards a degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Expertise in Google Suite (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organization, and written skills
  • Comfortable interning virtually

As a minority led non-profit organization with leaders that are women of colors, we feel so much pride and we are so proud being able to provide beneficial resources to the children in under-resourced areas in New York City in-person and multiple-states virtually.
