Job Brief
Help the producer and writers figure out the best approach for a feature or episode. As the podcast’s primary sounding board, you will oversee the development of story ideas and give feedback on story frameworks and scripts. Keep notes on the plans, and then communicate that information to the podcast producer so that they can plot out the production calendar. On a macro level, you ensure that there is consistency and flow between features; on a micro level, supply the reporting advice and critical feedback that make an individual episode coherent and interesting.
Responsibilities
- Working on all aspects of the audio production
- Experience in mixing and mastering audio for post-production
- Experience in working with different publishing tools and CMS
- Experience with virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom
- Experience with DSLR cameras, Sony and Canon
- Proficient in editing software
- Knowledge of sound recording and ability to troubleshoot online, in studio and field environments
- Ability to turn around audio on a tight deadline
Requirements
- BS/MS degree in related field (preferred )
- Proven working experience in podcast editor or equivalent role
- Demonstrable experience with organization, time-management, and working with teams
- Highly creative with experience in audio mixing and sound creativity
- Experience troubleshooting general digital snafus
- Solid knowledge of Adobe software (e.g., Premiere Pro, Pro X, PhotoShop)
- Experience with handling recording equipment
- Strong analytical skills, data-driven thinking, and deadline-driven
- Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in podcast editorial management
- A positive, can-do attitude
