Founded in 1975 by Chicano artist Peter Rodriguez and recognized as a Smithsonian Affiliate since 2011, The Mexican Museum is a premier museum that seeks to reflect the evolution of the Mexican, Mexican-American, Chicanx, and Latinx experience in the United States by representing their voices and discourses through our collections. Our work includes permanent and traveling collections, educational programs, and outreach activities.
We are currently in the process of completing our new space located in the Yerba Buena Gardens, a thriving downtown neighborhood in San Francisco that is the region’s most exciting arts and cultural district. While our museum is under construction, we keep working every day to offer exhibitions, content, and cultural experiences that our art-loving public can enjoy. For that, as a non-profit, we are seeking volunteers who can help us serve the museum's mission.
We are looking for a Digital Marketing and SEO specialist who can help us with social media digital campaigns that engage and inform our audiences.
We seek SEO strategies to make our online exhibitions, works in our collection, public programs, and community-based events more visible online. For that, we are looking for a candidate that can use social media to distribute our content, driving targeted traffic to our website through community-building.
Furthermore, we need help with developing optimization strategies to increase our museum’s search engine results ranking, research SEO keywords to use in our communications and website, and check analytics to monitor the performance of our web and recommendations for improvement.
This person will collaborate directly with content creators in the museum to align the museum’s content with the SEO strategy.
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Description
The Mexican Museum, initially located in the heart of San Francisco's Mission District, was founded in 1975 by San Francisco resident and artist Peter RodrÃguez. The museum was the realization of Mr. RodrÃguez's vision that an institution be created in the United States to exhibit the aesthetic expression of the Mexican and Mexican-American people. Today, our vision has expanded to reflect the evolving scope of the Mexican, Chicano, and Latino experience.
In 1982 The Mexican Museum moved to Fort Mason Center in San Francisco's Marina District, where it has amassed a permanent collection of over 16,000 art objects. This spectacular collection is unique in the nation and includes Pre-Hispanic, Colonial, Popular, Modern and Contemporary Mexican and Latino, and Chicano Art.
The museum closed it's Fort Mason Center location in 2018 and is currently preparing for the completion of our permanent home which will be built in downtown San Francisco's Yerba Buena Arts District. The museum continues to offer offsite educational and public programming throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
