Volunteer Computer Technicians are needed
The Seattle Housing Authority’s (SHA) mission is to enhance the Seattle community by creating and sustaining decent, safe, and affordable living environments that foster stability and increase self-sufficiency for people with low income.
Seattle Housing has five technology centers located in different SHA-owned public housing properties. The labs are managed by SHA’s digital equity coordinator and we are looking to recruit computer lab technicians to monitor and maintain computer labs located in different parts of Seattle.
Computer lab technicians will be responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of computer labs. They will assist lab users with computer-related issues such as creating user log-on accounts and passwords, trouble-shooting equipment problems and using other lab equipment such as printers and scanners.
They will assist computer users in using computer software applications such as word, excel.., internet, and other online services; troubleshooting computer software and hardware issues assisting in web surfing tasks, developing lab templates, offering access to reference manuals; cleaning and maintaining computer systems and their ancillary parts.
Skills needed to be a lab technician include knowledge of Microsoft operating system, basic knowledge of Microsoft office applications and they must know to operate computer-related equipment such as monitors, printers, speakers, and scanners.
