Event Description:

Join staff in helping to keep Durant Nature Preserve clean and beautiful at our "Big Sweep" event. The "Big Sweep" is a county and state wide initiative to help keep our watersheds clean by removing litter. Please help us to support this great effort! Improperly discarded trash, and litter, is a serious environmental hazard. It pollutes the water we use and depend on; it has the potential to cause injury to wildlife; and it is simply an eyesore. Help us by walking through Durant Nature Preserve and picking up as much trash and litter that you can find!

Volunteer Duties:

Volunteers will help remove litter from Durant Nature Preserve. This includes along the trails and through the woods.

Volunteer Impact:

Volunteers will help park staff in keeping Durant Nature Preserve beautiful and trash free. This will perform an invaluable environmental service by removing trash before it reaches our waterways and/or injures wildlife.

Work Environment:

We will be working in the woods on uneven terrain. There may be contact with snakes and bugs. The farthest that we will be from a restroom facility will be 1.5 miles.

Volunteer Requirements:

Pre-registration is required. Adults must register and accompany children.

Adults must register and accompany children under the age of 16. Everyone who volunteers must sign a release form. If anyone is under the age of 18, then a parent or guardian must sign their form as well.

Other Instructions:

Please bring a water bottle. Please bring your favorite pair of work gloves. Please wear sturdy close-toed shoes and clothing you can get dirty. We will supply the tools and the trash bags.

COVID-19 Policy:

Volunteers and staff must follow the COVID-19 policies below so that projects are safe for everyone.
