BEYOND THE BOOK INC

As a BTB Study Buddy, you have the opportunity to mentor a younger student in a variety of different subject areas depending on which area you are most comfortable with. Your 30 minute one-on-one sessions with your student will include homework help, explaining concepts, and helping your student learn to work effectively and productively. If you are applying to become a BTB intern, you will be more involved in helping run and expand the nonprofit and will be working directly with the BTB leadership team! Interns get to be involved in the behind-the-scenes of Beyond the Book and will be responsible for working with the leadership team and completing tasks including research, planning, design, social media, drafting, administration, and more.

Mission Statement

Beyond the Book is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that aims to reimagine remote learning and to inspire students around the world through peer-to-peer mentorship and personalized educational experiences. We help K-8 students thrive in their academics through homework help, class organization, and mentorship, all while fostering a greater learning community.

Description

BTB personally matches high school "Study Buddies" with K-8 students to participate in free, 30 minute mentoring sessions. Our sessions span a variety of different subjects: Math, English, Languages, Science, Mentoring/Advice, and more. Sessions are a fun way for students to stay engaged with online learning while developing an impactful bond with an older student mentor. The role of Study Buddies in BTB is not only to offer students help with their school work but also to motivate them, give them a better understanding of how to learn productively, and make learning fun for them.
