Little Sisters of the Poor

We are in need of volunteers who could help us with weeding and upkeep of our gardens. We have several beautiful gardens around our Home for the elderly and would be grateful for assistance in caring for them. This need has a flexible schedule. New volunteers attend a 30-minute orientation before starting to learn more about the Little Sisters, their mission, and our volunteer policies. Volunteers must be 18 years or older.

About Little Sisters of the Poor

1655 McGill Ave, Mobile, AL 36604, US

Mission Statement

The Little Sisters of the Poor are an international congregation of Roman Catholic women religious founded in 1839 by Saint Jeanne Jugan. Together with a diverse network of collaborators, we serve the elderly poor in over 30 countries around the world. Continuing the work of Saint Jeanne Jugan, our mission is to offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcomed as Christ, cared for as family, and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to himself.

Since 1901 at the same location in Mobile, Alabama, we have worked hard to give compassionate care to elderly men and women of the Gulf Coast region who have outlived their resources. More than 4,000 people from all walks of life, of all religions and beliefs, have made their home with us in Mobile.
