Are you a veteran or an active duty service member? Our unique Vet-to-Vet program matches a veteran/service member with a veteran patient receiving hospice care. This is a special opportunity for socialization and comfort at end of life. Some of the opportunities include:
- Visiting a veteran who is approaching end-of-life
- Helping a veteran understand and apply for veterans’ benefits
- Listening to life stories and reminiscing
- Calling a veteran on hospice care to check in on how they’re doing
- Attending veterans pinning ceremonies or other honors and celebrations
Due to the federal mandate regarding Covid-19, proof of vaccination is required.

Mission Statement
Amedisys Hospice treats the entire well being of the person and their family by meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs. As part of the Hospice care, volunteers play an important role of helping individuals by providing companionship, and respite care for their family.
Description
Hospice is a health care program that provides physical, emotional, and spiritual support to patients with life-limiting illnesses to enable the best quality of life for the patient.
Hospice care allows the patient to live the remainder of his or her life at home in comfort and with dignity. Hospice provides emotional and educational support to the patient’s family to make their remaining time with the patient as meaningful as possible. Hospice also provides grief support to family members for up to 13 months following the death of the patient.
A hospice volunteer is a special part of the hospice team. They are people who wish to make a difference in the lives of the terminally ill or those who are grieving by giving their time to assist a patient or family member.
