To give a young adult (male & females between the ages of 16 and 22) in need of social, emotional, developmental, and recreational support, the companionship of an adult to supplement the work of parents, teachers, counselors, social workers, and other social services and education professionals. Mission Statement

The One Heart Project equips justice-involved and at-risk youth with the skills, tools, and healthy relationships needed to navigate life successfully. Holistic programming focuses on social & emotional intelligence education, mentoring, gap skill training, job training, and employment opportunities.

Description

We currently need volunteers in Nueces County and in McLennan County. The curriculum provides an integrated set of resources that feature prominent individuals and their true stories of modeling specific concepts and positive living. The student guide, combined with the videos and other materials, presents a comprehensive campaign to build emotional intelligence and prosocial skills. The program facilitates consistent reinforcement, which allows for sustainable results. Because the curriculum is flexible and modular, it fits the scheduling and implementation needs of any participating organization and provides a turnkey implementation.OHP core values modules include:-Commitment-Leadership-Perseverance-Teamwork-Respect-Integrity-Responsibility-Self-control-Compassion

  • Driver's License Needed
  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 21
  • Orientation or Training
  • The mentor will be assigned to a young adult and will be responsible for meeting with the mentee on a weekly basis, at minimum 1 hour per week. A one-year commitment is the minimum accepted.
  • Approximately 8-10 hours of onboarding over 3-6 weeks
