At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, the Y works side by side with its neighbors to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and THRIVE. The Akron Area YMCA is looking for individuals to take on the role of THRIVE Activity Leader. Volunteering with THRIVE is a wonderful opportunity to enrich the lives of children living in our community through a development-based curriculum including nutrition, reading, physical health, creative activities, and fun games. Volunteers are provided with all materials, supplies, and training needed to create fun, positive, life-changing experiences for students. Volunteers spend approximately 2.5 hours of their time each week at an Akron Area YMCA site. This rewarding opportunity is open to those in high school and beyond. The ideal volunteer is reliable, organized, punctual, and has a great passion for helping children succeed in school and in life. If you are interested in becoming a THRIVE volunteer, please contact Jenna Messina, Youth Development Coordinator at 330-376-1335 ext. 1035 or email jennam@akronymca.org.
