At Heart to Heart Hospice our dedicated volunteers are a special part of our team, fulfilling and important role in our mission of providing compassionate care.
Every Heart to Heart Volunteer receives orientation and training specially designed to prepare them to help our patients and families. they learn important information on:
Philosophy of Heart to Heart Hospice
Patient and Family rights
Family relationships
Responsibilities of caring for patients and their families
Listening and communication skills
Physical and emotional aspects of death and dying
Spiritual and cultural diversity
Patient confidentiality
Volunteers May:
Visit patients , providing companionship
Read Books, news to patients
Sing to Patients
Celebrate holidays
Make phone calls or write letters
Provide emotional support/ spiritual support
Help with bereavement
File and do light office work
Answer phones and make calls to patients
Help distribute information
Assist with community relation activities
