Do you love your career and want to inspire younger people to find their calling? Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butler County seeks caring adult mentors for our Big Futures program. Make a New Year's resolution to make a difference in 2024!

Big Futures is a career-focused mentoring program in which adult mentors are paired with teens in their community. These pairs are called "matches." The mentors empower the teens to finish high school and plan for success after high school. Whether the teen plans to further their education in college, learn a trade, or enter the workforce, the mentor helps the teen explore their options and empowers them to set and meet goals for their life.

Big Futures matches get together at least twice each month to engage in conversation and activities they both enjoy. This could include talking about the teen's plans, touring a college, exploring a workplace, or simply hanging out together. Periodically, BBBS offers a career-focused activity for all Big Futures matches to attend as a group. Such activities include tours of local businesses, presentations from college personnel, and the opportunity to try out a specific skill.

Big Futures is for adult volunteers and high school students who are interested in career planning and exploration. Big Futures is designed to combine the proven benefits of a one-to-one mentoring relationship with the enrichment that comes from exposure to ideas, information, and connections that help teens plan for a successful future.

Big Futures mentors must be at least 18 years of age, live or work in or near Butler County, and have access to reliable transportation. All adult mentors with Big Brothers Big Sisters must complete an application including references, a screening interview, and pass a criminal background check and driving records check. Adults of all ages, from young adults to retirees, are welcome! BBBS also welcomes workplaces that wish to volunteer as a group.
