Do you love sports and fitness, or have special skills in sports? Do you enjoy sharing your love of sports with others? Consider becoming a Sports Buddies Mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Butler County! Make a New Year's resolution to make a difference in 2023. A child is your community is waiting for a mentor like you.
A Sports Buddies mentor is paired with a child in their community who shares their interest in sports, fitness, wellness, or being active. We call this pair a "match." The match gets together at least twice each month to engage in activities they both enjoy. This could be playing a sport together, attending a sporting event or class, or just hanging out and talking. Periodically, BBBS offers a sports-themed outing or activity for all Sports Buddies matches to enjoy as a group.
Sports Buddies is for adult volunteers and children or youth who are interested in any sport, fitness, or wellness, including traditional and non-traditional sports, health and fitness, and/or wellness. Sports Buddies is designed to enhance the mentoring relationship by providing engaging activities that enrich the match's shared interests.
Sports Buddies mentors must be at least 18 years of age, live or work in or near Butler County, and have access to reliable transportation. All adult mentors with Big Brothers Big Sisters must complete an application including references, a screening interview, and pass a criminal background check and driving records check. Adults of all ages, from young adults to retirees, are welcome! No formal education or experience in sports or sports performance is required.
