ORGANIZATION: Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Boston

Seeking a Big Sister for Sophie, a 16 yo girl from Dedham. Sophie has a mild cognitive impairment and struggles socially. She is highly isolated and COVID has been especially tough. She has experienced a great deal of loss in her life and is currently in the care of her grandmother. She is very shy at first but can be quite funny when she is comfortable. She enjoys animals, the outdoors, and taking walks. A Big Sister (25-45) who can be a positive role model to guide Sophie as she navigates adolescence, help her develop social skills and practice relationship-building, build self-confidence, and provide additional support would be highly impactful in this teen’s life.

The right volunteer will be a young woman from any religion, ethnicity or background, who would enjoy hanging out and doing activities with a "great kid." Matches meet twice a month for a couple of hours, mostly on the weekends, and make a year commitment. Match support is provided by Clinical Match Specialists.
