From time to time we need help with transportation for our formerly homeless clients to different appointments. This could be a medical appointment, to the grocery store, gym, job interview, an errand, a pick up because it's raining or even transportation during an emergency such as a hurricane evacuation. The transportation itself would be arranged by a staff member or volunteer coordinator to make sure it's appropriate.
Depending on the volunteer comfort and time commitment, you may be asked to accompany the client to whatever destination you are going to. Some prime examples could be actually grocery shopping with the client or going into the doctor appointment with them and helping fill out forms or communicate important information.
Our goal is to help each client reach their highest level of independence possible, but they need help from time to time. Especially considering that many of the bus routes have been cancelled recently, their fares reinstated from hiatus via COVID, the rainy season is upon us and sometimes clients need a helping hand at an appointment.
If this sounds like something you'd like to do, please don't hesitate and reach out today!
