Pet Peace of Mind Volunteers
Pet Peace of Mind volunteers are hospice trained volunteers who assist with the care of our patient's pets. The goal is to provide our patients with the assurance that we understand the role of their pet in contributing to their emotional and spiritual well-being. The purpose is to recognize and actively support keeping patients and pets together during their time on hospice.
Volunteer tasks may include:
- Walking
- Playing
- Feeding
- Waste clean-up
- Delivering pet food/supplies
- Transporting animals to vet or grooming appointments
- Securing future plans for pets such as re-homing, or fostering
- Recruiting additional pet peace of mind volunteers
- Fundraising to support pet peace of mind programming needs
- Managing administrative aspects of the program
