POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Job Overview: The Bookkeeper-Accountant participates in the responsibility of the financial management of nonprofit organizations according to specialized financial rules that pertain to nonprofit organizations exclusively. Their responsibilities include monthly reconciliations like accounts payable and receivable, bank and investment accounts, and expense accounts.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • The Bookkeeper-Accountant is expected to reflect Mission1Race’s values and messaging.
  • The Bookkeeper-Accountant assists in the annual budgeting process.
  • The Bookkeeper-Accountant assists with strategic budgets for long/short term planning for the organization.
  • The Bookkeeper-Accountant assists with financial models and other projects as needed.
  • The Bookkeeper-Accountant assists in the annual financial and any other audits as required.
  • The Bookkeeper-Accountant process 1099 forms and other forms relevant to the organization.
  • The Bookkeeper-Accountant reviews and reports submissions to all funding partners as required.
  • The Bookkeeper-Accountant works closely with the staff on budgets, projections, and other grant-related procedures.
  • The Bookkeeper-Accountant will respond to all regular communications within 48 hours.
  • The Bookkeeper-Accountant will respond to all high-priority outreach within 24 hours.
  • The Bookkeeper-Accountant will attend required meetings.

Must Have :-)

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills required.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting systems preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.

Nice to Have :-)

  • 3 or more years related experience preferred.
  • NonĀ­profit experience required.
  • Knowledge of nonĀ­profit accounting standards, FASB 116 & 117 preferred but not required (willing to learn).
  • High-level strategic thinking and planning



Physical Responsibilities and Duties:

  • This position requires 8 - 12 hours a month of donated hours.
  • Frequent typing and writing are customary.
