Volunteer Theatre Ushers Needed at Desert Stages Theatre!

Interested in supporting live theatre as a volunteer usher? We sure could use your help! The tasks are easy, fun, and social. Best of all, you (and maybe your usher partner) get to stay and see the show for FREE! There are lots of dates and times to fit your schedule, for example:

Friday, 6:30 - 10:00pm
Saturday, 1:00 - 4:30pm or
Saturday, 2:00 - 5:30pm depending on production.
Sunday, 1:00 - 4:30pm or
Sunday, 2:00 - 5:30pm depending on production.

With shows like Guys and Dolls, Matilda Jr., A Christmas Story the Musical, The Velveteen Rabbit, Lombardi, Seussical, Jr., Something Rotten, Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, and RENT (and more!) in our 28th season, you will be so proud to call Desert Stages Theatre YOUR community theatre!

Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre is an award winning, nonprofit performing arts theater committed to offering high-quality entertainment and providing a creative platform that nurtures each stage of an actor's development.

Description

Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre is an award-winning, non-profit performing arts theatre located in Arizona’s premiere shopping, entertainment and dining destination, Scottsdale Fashion Square.

Established in 1995 by Laurie Cullity, the late Gerry Cullity, and Joan Thompson, the theatre is committed to offering high-quality entertainment for the entire community and prides itself on providing a creative and inclusive environment where actors can learn, grow and thrive.

Many Desert Stages alumni have gone on to work as professional actors in New York and Los Angeles but, no matter what a child aspires to, the theatrical training and performing experience they receive at Desert Stages will assist them on their journey.

Each year, Desert Stages offers:

  • 250 performances with 38,000 seats.
  • Eight adult productions, cast primarily from local actors.
  • Five youth shows with casts of 60-125 actors, ages 3-19.
  • 300 youngsters the opportunity to learn theatre arts as theatrical camper/actors, teen directors, choreographers and counselors

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 16
  • Orientation or Training
  • DST Volunteer Ushers are asked to arrive at the theatre one hour before showtime to receive instructions from the Box Office. Ushers are invited to stay to enjoy the show at no charge. Shows last from 1 1/2 hours to 2 1/2 hours.
  • DST Volunteer Ushers must be able to stand for 30 minutes and walk up and down stairs with no trouble. We also ask that you bring a friendly attitude and a smiling face! Dress code is white top (blouse/shirt) and black bottoms (long pants/skirt).
