The Resource Development Intern (RDI) will assist VHCDC leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive funds development program, to include elements of the Benevon System. The successful candidate will report to the Vice President.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The RDI is expected to advance the mission of Virginia Housing and Community Development Corporation (VHCDC). For easy reference, the outcomes are presented in alphabetical order.

Resource Development

  • Aids the President and Vice President in soliciting individual donations.
  • Aids the President and Vice President in soliciting corporate donations.
  • Develops and grows funding base.
  • Implements elements of the Benevon Sustainable Funding
  • Engages in "friend-raising" - all the donor development activities that occur before making the "ask" for a contribution.
  • Works with the President and Vice President to cultivate strong donor relationships.
  • Tracks funding opportunities and reports on the status of achieving funding goals.
  • Plans and coordinates fundraising events.
  • Implements Community Enterprise donor management module to track and report donor information.
  • Work with President and Vice President in the creation of a multi-faceted development strategy.

Stakeholder Relations

  • In collaboration with the President and Vice President, represents Virginia Housing and Community Development Corporation at community functions, training events, partner meetings, etc.

Physical Demands

  • Although effective time management is essential, there will be occasions when working additional hours outside traditional working hours and / or days will be necessary to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

  • Being able to look at given situations or problems as they arise, quickly analyzing them, and then making spontaneous and effective decisions.

Education and Experience

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Business Administration, Finance or Public Administration. Candidates seeking additional education in the form of a master’s degree are preferred..

Supervision

The Resource Development Intern works under direct supervision of the Vice President.


JOB ENVIRONMENT

  • This position works remotely with cloud access to production work files and telecommunications.
  • May require travel throughout the Hampton Roads and possibly the Central Virginia region.
  • Workweek is Monday to Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm (core office hours) with flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekend events.
