Riders on ponies coming back from their trail ride.

Since 1977, Halleck Creek Ranch has helped youth and adults with disabilities live a life without barriers through therapeutic horseback riding. A 501(c)(3) non-profit, we are located on our private 60-acre ranch in the gorgeous hills of Nicasio (in West Marin, 30 minutes West of San Rafael, 30 minutes SW of Petaluma).

Our ranch is open five days a week (Tuesday through Saturday), and we are continuously looking for volunteers to come help with our lessons and facilities maintenance.

We are looking for active, energetic and caring volunteers to help support our mission and keep our organization vibrant. Program Volunteers help with the riding portion of our program, engaging and assisting our special participants, sidewalking, grooming, tacking-up horses, and may eventually lead horses for our riders. NO HORSE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED, all training is provided, and we are here to help you learn!

Facility Volunteers help in a variety of ways around our 60-acre ranch, some of which include raking the hay barn, cleaning paddocks, gardening, or general repairs. Administrative Volunteers are also encouraged to reach out!

Orientations are now offered online. Please email us at vc@halleckcreekranch.org or visit www.halleckcreekranch.org for more information!

About Halleck Creek Ranch

Location:

1740 Old Rancheria Road, PO Box 159, Nicasio, CA 94946, US

Mission Statement

We believe that providing challenging experiences in a supportive environment will make a lasting, positive change in the attitudes and abilities of children and adults with disabilities, and in the people who care for them. Through the beneficial activity of therapeutic horseback riding, our participants learn new skills and expand their self-perception, enjoying a sense of freedom from their disabilities. We believe the families benefit from the relaxed atmosphere of the ranch and a valuable chance to network with other families and caregivers. We are committed to providing our program at low or no cost to our participants, so that the therapeutic benefits available through connections with people, animals, and nature are never denied a single individual in need.

Description

Halleck Creek Ranch invites people with disabilities, and their families, to live a "Life without barriers" through the beneficial activity of therapeutic horseback riding. Horseback riding promotes a unique sense of freedom and mobility, allowing riders to imagine the future, and to enjoy the present, in a way they never thought possible. For volunteers, their interactions with the riders teaches them that people with disabilities can do anything they want to, they just have to do it a little differently. The relationships between riders, volunteers, and horses establish connections that benefit our entire community.
