Since 1977, Halleck Creek Ranch has helped youth and adults with disabilities live a life without barriers through therapeutic horseback riding. A 501(c)(3) non-profit, Halleck Creek Ranch has two locations, one on Old Rancheria Road, and the other at Rock Rose Ranch. Both of these ranches are located in beautiful Nicasio (in West Marin, 30 minutes West of San Rafael, 30 minutes SW of Petaluma).

Our Old Rancheria Road location is open five days a week (Tuesday through Saturday), and we are continuously looking for volunteers to help with our lessons and facilities maintenance. The Rock Rose Ranch location is open four days a week (Tuesday through Friday), and is also looking for volunteers to assist with caring for the facility and with the program.

For our adaptive riding lessons and groundwork programs , w e are looking for active, energetic and caring volunteers at both locations to help support our mission and keep our organization vibrant. Program Volunteers help with the riding and groundwork portions of our program, engaging with and assisting our participants with disabilities through sidewalking, grooming and tacking up horses, and may eventually lead horses in our adaptive riding lessons and groundwork classes . NO HORSE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED, all training is provided, and we are here to help you learn!

Our facility teams are comprised of volunteers who help in a variety of ways around both of our ranches , some of which include cleaning water troughs and paddocks, gardening, or general repairs under the guidance of the Ranch Caretaker . Administrative Volunteers are also encouraged to reach out!

Volunteer Applications are now online https://halleckcreekranch.org/volunteer/volunteer-app-release-forms/[! Please email us at vc@halleckcreekranch.org or visit www.halleckcreekranch.org for more information!

About Halleck Creek Ranch

Location:

1740 Old Rancheria Road, Nicasio, CA 94946, US

Mission Statement

What We Do: We believe that providing challenging experiences in a supportive environment will make a lasting, positive change in the attitudes and abilities of children and adults with disabilities, and in the people who care for them. Through the beneficial activity of therapeutic horseback riding, our participants learn new skills and expand their self-perception, enjoying a sense of freedom from their disabilities. We believe the families benefit from the relaxed atmosphere of the ranch and a valuable chance to network with other families and caregivers. We are committed to providing our program at low or no cost to our participants, so that the therapeutic benefits available through connections with people, animals, and nature are never denied a single individual in need. We are a member center of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH). Who We Are: Using gentle horses and a wonderful group of volunteers, Halleck Creek Ranch offers a stimulating and valuable weekly therapy program to children and adults with a wide range of physical and mental disabilities. Riders enjoy the many benefits of therapeutic horseback riding including increased strength, flexibility, coordination and confidence. In addition to a riding lesson in our covered arena, riders enjoy a trail ride through the beautiful Nicasio Valley, creating a unique experience that cannot be duplicated in the arena. Volunteers groom and lead horses, developing valuable horsemanship, interpersonal and leadership skills. There is a comprehensive training program for all new volunteers to learn the unique skills necessary to volunteer. Volunteers and riders gain the opportunity to enjoy the company of peers of all ages in a relaxed outdoor setting. It is often hard to tell who is smiling more, the riders or the volunteers!
