The Harlan Gould library is a non-lending repository that offers an extensive collection of historical resource materials from books, newspapers, periodicals and maps to an assortment of other publications. The library has provided the material for original research for scholars, children, and the just plain curious.

Specifics

  • Volunteer position for 5-10 hours per week
  • Influence future policies on donations and collection management
  • Tell the story of Kirkwood
  • Improve access through technology
  • Connect researchers with the documents they need
  • Work with digital documents, rare artifacts and books, letters, postcards, diaries, photographs
  • Act as a liaison between the library and the local and online community
  • Create a small team of volunteers who can staff the library twice weekly for 3 hours
  • Assist with grant applications for library funding purposes and possible paid position

Description

The Kirkwood Historical Society is an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization that preserves and promotes Kirkwood’s long and storied history. It was organized in 1961 and received its 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service in July 1963. The society makes its headquarters in Mudd’s Grove, a 163 year-old house located in the heart of Kirkwood.
