Your time is a gift to kids, seniors and others who may not have enough to eat. Volunteers produce the equivalent of a meal a minute while helping the Houston Food Bank sort, process and pack food. And it's fun! Just minutes from downtown, you can volunteer in our Portwall warehouse sorting and packing or helping to prepare meals in our new state-of-the-art Kitchen or lending a hand in our Teachers Aid Center or at one of our off-site volunteer opportunities.
Volunteer opportunities for individuals, corporations, schools, faith based and community organizations and others: Help out while sharing the value of volunteering with those you learn with, worship with, play with or work with - and have a blast doing it!
Required Service Hours: For those who must complete mandated community service, or required hours for government-funded programs.
Volunteer Leadership Programs: Take your commitment to FIGHT HUNGER to the next level and become one of our volunteer leaders, trained and experienced in coordinating HFB volunteer activities.

Founded in 1982, the Houston Food Bank’s mission is to provide food for better lives. Houston Food Bank is a certified member of Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network, with a four-star rating from Charity Navigator. Houston Food Bank is America’s largest food bank in distribution, and leads hunger relief in 18 southeast Texas counties. We distribute fresh produce, meat and nonperishables and prepare nutritious hot meals for kids in our state-of-the-art Keegan Kitchen.
