County Social Services boards provide valuable public services which help prevent homelessness and improve self-sufficiency for vulnerable individuals and families. These efforts are consistent with the work of local Department of Social Services.
Such Boards assist in providing additional services not already available through the mandated programs funded by government funds including such things as:
Medical supplies and services to help the elderly remain in their homes;
Summer camps, school clothing and supplies for low-income children; and
Parenting, education and job placement services to help families thrive
These Advisory boards provide services to thousands of Marylanders each year, thanks to the support of generous businesses and individuals who regularly donate funds and attend fundraising events.

Description
Charles County DSS (CCDSS) is a government agency providing child welfare and adult services; public assistance benefits such as SNAP and TANF; and child support services to the citizens of Charles County MD. The Advisory Board of CCDSS is a volunteer not-for-profit organization that serves as an outreach arm for CCDSS, focusing on community awareness, development of services consistent with the mission of the Department, and creating greater community understanding of how individuals are served by CCDSS. Volunteer opportunities to serve on this Board exist through the Charles County Government website where applications for membership are available.
