As we all know COVID - 19 has changed the way that we volunteer. Even though COVID - 19 has changed things, it has not stopped us from being able to meet the needs of families and patients. This opportunity consist of visiting inperson with hospice patients either in their home or in long term care facilities. The need for socialization for our patients and families is greater now than ever. Socialization visits with patients could include things such as : a simple conversation, reading or watching tv with the patient, working puzzles or playing cards together. Sometimes just having a volunteer in the room sitting quietly may be all that is needed to make the patient or family feel comfort. The right person to fill this need will be able to visit on a regular basis, have good communication skills, show compassion and hold confidentiality at the highest level of importance.
