The Social Media Manager is a leader responsible for overseeing the operations of Dance for All Bodies (DfAB)’s media presence. This oversight requires liaising between graphic design, social media, and videography to deliver engaging content that aligns with DfAB's brand style guide across social media platforms.

Job Description

The main duties of the social media manager is to expand DfAB’s impact by:

  1. Organize tasks, delegate responsibilities and oversee communications across graphic design (GD), social media (SM), and videographer volunteers so all understand their roles and deadlines within specific projects.
  2. Create social media strategy based on social media analytics and engagement.
  3. Meeting with volunteers on GD and SM teams on a recurring basis (monthly or biweekly).

Responsibilities

Oversee:

  • Assess and organize moving parts that comprise a social media campaign including but not limited to: graphics, videos, posting schedules.
  • Communicate effectively across departments via Email, Google Calendar, Trello and WhatsApp, keeping in mind the different availabilities and time zones volunteers are in.
  • Meet with social media volunteers and graphic designers on a recurring basis.
Organize:
  • Add to, edit, and delegate social media post of DfAB’s social media calendar and posting platform, Latergram.
  • Create social media strategy based on social media engagement and analytics.
  • As time permits, if interested, create social media analytics to display what social media strategies we should follow.

Support:
  • Maintain social media presence on Instagram, Facebook and/or Twitter by consistent posting on certain days of the week (2-3 times per week).
  • Graphic designers by giving ideas and suggestions on editing videos from classes and creating new more engaging posts.
  • Videographers on finding new video content to share on our YouTube channel. Previous examples of videos we have prepared can be found on our channel.
  • Respond to direct messages, making sure we repost when people share and tag us.
  • Directly engaging with other online accounts on Instagram and Facebook. This means liking posts, liking comments, commenting on posts, and sharing content from fellow orgs on our stories.
  • Post on other community groups that include our target audience.

Key Competencies/Skills

  • Personal or professional experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience working for a non-profit or grassroots organization is preferred.
  • Previous experience in social media management is preferred.
  • Must be committed to DfAB’s mission to change the face of dance through accessible dance classes.
  • Disciplined in working independently and remotely; not afraid to ask questions or admit when you don’t know something.
  • Collaborative mindset; eager to be part of a team and contribute.
  • Self-motivated and shows stamina in the face of obstacles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience using Google Drive.

Work Environment

All work can be done remotely. You are also highly encouraged to attend our bimonthly (twice a month) meetings on Mondays 7:30pm EST/4:30pm PST.


Expected Hours of Work

While there is room for flexibility in regards to hours, you will be expected to commit around 5-6 hours to DfAB every week. If you plan to travel or take a break, let us know in advance.

At DfAB we believe that experience comes in many different forms. We want to prioritize those who demonstrate a strong commitment to our mission and are therefore willing to commit a great amount of time, thought, and effort into this cause. The mission of Dance for All Bodies is to dismantle ableism through access-centered dance classes, community-based learning, and equitable access workshops. We envision DfAB as a joyful, access-centered dance community where people can show up as their full authentic selves.

Description

Incorporated in 2019, Dance for All Bodies (DfAB) is a non-profit that organizes dance classes designed for people with disabilities. We welcome people of all abilities in our classes. Our classes, which represent a wide variety of dance styles, are donation based and held virtually over Zoom. We offer Closed Captions in all of our classes as well as ASL Interpretation. We aim to make people of all abilities feel more welcome in dance spaces, because everyone should have the opportunity to feel the power of dance. Just like Alvin Ailey, we believe that "dance came from the people and that it should always be delivered back to the people".
