Position Summary: Volunteer for the Colchester and East Haddam Farmers’ Markets! If you love being outdoors and working with your community, this is the place for you. Our Farmers’ Market Volunteers will serve a critical role in our weekly summer markets, assisting with market logistics and activities, special event days, and coordination of the program. We have many different volunteer roles and responsibilities available. The Colchester Farmers’ Market will run on Sundays, 9a - 1p from June 20th to October 17th. The market will be on the Colchester Town Green. The East Haddam Farmers’ Market will run on Saturdays, 3p - 6p from June 19th to August 28th. The market will be at Ballek’s Garden Center in East Haddam. Commitment will vary on availability. Preferably, we would like candidates who can commit to most of the summer, and entire market days or consistent shifts.
Volunteer Responsibilities: * Set-up and breakdown assistance: Market signage and decorations, booth layout, directing vendors * Food stand: Cooking and grilling, processing orders, stand sanitation * Market booth: Selling market merchandise, giving directions and/or information
* Special events: Directing kids’ activities, extra decorating, ceremony or celebration assistance
* Event coordination*: special event activities and scheduling, weekly market layout, communication
* Marketing assistance*: social media, photography and video, survey conducting *will require a fuller commitment, and possibly time outside of shifts.
Volunteer Requirements:
* Must be able to attend either the Colchester or East Haddam Farmers’ Market the day of. Can be entire day or shifts.
* Must attend infrequent volunteer meetings throughout the summer.

COLCHESTER
* 7:30am - 9:00am (Set-up help)
* 7:30am - 2:00pm (Set-up and breakdown help, full market day)
* 9:00am - 1:00pm (full market day)
* 7:30am - 10:30am (part market day)
* 10:30am - 1:30pm (part market day)
EAST HADDAM
* 1:30pm - 7:00pm (Set-up and breakdown help, full market day)
* 3:00pm - 6:00pm (full market day)
* 1:30pm - 4:00pm (part market day)
* 4:00pm - 6:30pm (part market day)

- Once a week Saturday or Sunday depending on which market you would like to volunteer for. The more you would like to help out, the fuller the time commitment. We do have spots for special event volunteers if you can't commit to the entire season.
