Open NLP Labs

OpenNLP is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, previously known as Linguistics Justice League. We are an open research lab focused on transforming cutting-edge research into real-world applications for social good. Often, groundbreaking models and papers are forgotten, relegated to GitHub repositories never to be seen or used again. At OpenNLP, we unite global collaborators to work on paid and nonprofit research projects that push the boundaries of natural language processing. We don’t stop at publishing papers - we make research accessible and understandable by all.

We are seeking board members who believe in our mission and have experience in marketing, accounting, legal, technology, or previous nonprofit work. As a board member, you will work closely with the executive team and industry collaborators, providing a unique opportunity to build your network and professional connections.

Consider joining a nonprofit board driven by a singular mission with a huge impact. We are looking for board members who:

  • Based out of the USA.
  • Are passionate about volunteering.
  • Have creative ideas and the motivation and social network to make them happen.
  • Are connected to and/or interested in outreach to local industry leaders.
  • Enjoy connecting people and finding partnership opportunities.
  • Are comfortable reaching out to their network of family and friends about a good cause.
  • Have strong communication skills and are highly organized.

We expect that you will:

  • Work collaboratively with other board members.
  • Participate in one board call a month.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk! Reach out to us today with the following information:

  • Why are you interested in our mission?
  • What unique qualities could you bring to our organization?

Join us at OpenNLP Labs and help us make a lasting impact on the world of natural language processing and beyond.

Mission Statement

OpenNLP is a research lab that brings emerging subfields of natural language processing to the real world. There's so much research out there that's potential hasn't been realized yet, with groundbreaking models often being relegated to GitHub repositories that are inaccessible to the general public and marginalized communities who need it the most. At OpenNLP, we focus on uniting global collaborators to work on paid and research projects that push the boundaries of natural language processing. We don’t stop at publishing papers- we make research accessible and understood by all.
