Thank you for your interest in volunteering at one of our PetSmart locations. Volunteers help us feed, clean, socialize and help process adoptions for these cats.

Age Requirements: Must be 18 years or older to volunteer alone or if you are 12-17 years old you must volunteer with a parent/guardian that is at least 21 years old.
Time Commitment: This opportunity is a 2 hour regular weekly shift volunteer opportunity and is long term (at least 6 months).
Adoption volunteer shifts: help with getting the cats matched with their forever homes. These shifts come in a range of times every day.
Cleaning volunteer shifts: help with cleaning kennels, giving enrichment, and socializing the cats. Shifts are Mondays-Saturdays AM shift 8:00-12:00 and PM shift 5:00-8:00. Sunday time shifts are different because of the store opening later and closing earlier. Your visit can be anywhere within those time frames.

Here is a list of stores we are in: City Place (75204), Greenville Ave. (75206), Lakewood (75214), Mesquite (75150), Denton (76205)

Some volunteers do once a week and some do more than one. This is strictly up to you and what you can do!

We do ask you keep in contact with us about the cats. Letting us know of any adoptions or if our cats are not feeling well. Please call 214-490-6360 or email with any questions at newvolunteer@spca.org. We would prefer this be an ongoing opportunity and not sure a short term volunteer. If you need shifts off just let us know!

About SPCA of Texas

Location:

2400 Lone Star Dr., Dallas, TX 75212, US

Mission Statement

The SPCA of Texas is dedicated to providing every animal exceptional care and a loving home.

Description

The SPCA of Texas is the leading animal welfare agency in North Texas. We operate two animal shelters, located near downtown Dallas and in McKinney, which, together with our community partners for offsite adoptions, find homes for more than 6,000 animals each year. We do not euthanize animals for lack of space and we do not place time limits on animals housed in our shelters. We also operate public veterinary clinics in West Dallas, South Oak Cliff and McKinney to provide high-quality pet care at affordable prices and we collaborate with community partners to spay or neuter tens of thousands of animals each year.

In a typical year, our five-member Rescue and Investigations team responds to 2,000 calls and rescues more than 1,000 abandoned or cruelly treated animals in 8 North Texas counties. Our education and outreach programs reach more than 20,000 Texans each year with a message of compassion and responsibility.

Our independent non-profit organization is not affiliated with the ASPCA or any other humane society and we do not receive taxpayer funding. Your support helps us make life better for more than 50,000 animals and the people who love them - right here in our community.
