Mission Statement

Chipola Area Habitat works in partnership with God, and people from all walks of life, to build and renovate houses, so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God’s love and can live and grow into all that God intends.

Description

On February 28, 1988, the Jackson County Habitat for Humanity was brought to life by a dedicated group of staff and volunteers driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live. It was followed in 1992 by the launch of an affiliate in Washington County. The two organizations merged in 2016, transforming into the Chipola Area Habitat for Humanity.

Since its inception, the organization has remained steadfast in its mission to help families and individuals to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower.

The Chipola region is home to 73 new construction homes and 5 ReHabbed homes. The work isn't done yet-Chipola Area Habitat for Humanity is currently building 8 new construction homes (7 in Jackson County and 1 in Washington County) and working on an additional ReHab.
