Is your passion caring for others? ACC Senior Services' mission is to promote the general welfare and enhance the quality of life for our community by identifying, developing, and providing culturally sensitive health and social services for older adults. Volunteer with us to help to enrich the lives of seniors, elevate the human spirit and encourage social communication through group recreation. Help ACC Care Center residents establish bonds of friendship with peers through the Senior Friendship Circle.

Here's what you'll do on a typical day:

  • Engage residents with cognitive impairment in 1-on- 1 activities.
  • Play memory games.
  • Engage residents with a music activity or sensory activity.
  • Assist in the scheduling of activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Some skills that will make you successful while you volunteer are:
  • Please be able to demonstrate patience, compassion, and a desire to help others.
  • Dependable and able to commit to a regular schedule.
  • Must have the ability to be objective and empathetic.
  • Ability to conduct yourself in a friendly and professional manner.

Schedule & Length of Commitment
Flexible schedule, we'll work with your availability! We ask our volunteers to commit to a regular schedule for at least 3 months.

Before you start, we train you about:
  • ACC volunteer policies and procedures, HIPAA Confidentiality, and Elder Abuse Prevention.
  • Other trainings provided on an as-needed basis, dependent on volunteer job duties.

Description

ACC Senior Services (ACC) volunteers provide priceless dedication and support to our organization, and help us make a difference in the lives of seniors and family caregivers. As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to learn new skills, assist with program implementation, and of course - make new friends! The ACC Volunteer Program is made up of a diverse group of individuals such as students, working professionals, homemakers, retirees, and more. The key characteristics that bring our volunteers together within our organization are their friendliness and interest in helping others.

We understand that volunteers need flexibility, so our Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to find a position that best fits your availability, skills, and interests. We invite you to volunteer with us and become a part of our community!
