Mission Statement

The mission of the Young Marines is to positively impact America’s future by providing quality youth development programs for boys and girls, 8 to graduation from high school, that nurtures and develops its members into responsible citizens who enjoy and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

Description

We have been active for 12 years here in the Geronimo and Seguin area. We continue to earn recognition at the National level with our Red Ribbon Week and Drug Prevention efforts in the community. We have a goal to grow our numbers of Young Marines, but we struggle to get volunteers. For every 10 boys or girls to one adult male or female, so we need volunteers to even meet. The requirements for volunteers are simple- are you willing to give your time?

We would love someone who is physically fit and able to participate more with the kids as a training person, we also need computer input, photos and videos to be taken. The hours involved are whatever you can give- we meet twice a month on Saturdays from 9-1pm. If you couldn't come both days- we can work with it and have someone else attend. The more volunteers the more we can do and accomplish.
I personally have volunteered for 19 years and have been in every position at the unit level, served for 8 years as a board of director at the National level, started the Guadalupe Valley Unit and helped other units start up. The opportunities for volunteers after you've been part of the program for year are amazing! I've been on trips from Washing state to Washington, DC and every where in between.
As adult Volunteers you will have an application to fill out, get 3 letters of recommendation and there will be a back ground check done.
