Volunteers who have not been fully vaccinated cannot enter homes but instead will maintain social distancing, wear appropriate PPE provided by Encompass and only make no-contact "porch" visits.
We are looking for military and veterans to honor and provide companionship to hospice patients who are military veterans. Volunteerism is flexible to volunteer’s schedule. You can volunteer as a group or on your own. Family members of veterans are welcome to serve too.
We have patients who are military Veterans that would benefit from companionship and veteran-to-veteran comradery. Volunteers are also needed to assist with honoring hospice veterans for their service with veteran pinning ceremonies, and delivering veteran certificates. At Encompass, we appreciate our Veteran patients and desire for them to receive full care, honor and dignity at the end of their lives. No Veteran should die alone.
Direct Patient Support Volunteers must complete the application, a hospice volunteer orientation, background screenings, and an introduction to specific Veteran issues at the end of life.
A time log will be provided for documentation of donated time. We provide a comprehensive, free training for all of our volunteers. Volunteers are welcome to provide assistance during the day, after hours, or on weekends.
Volunteers must complete the application and orientation processes, which in include background screenings, a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
