San Mateo County Office Emergency Services Bureau's Cliff Rescue team is looking for volunteers. The team consists of volunteers and Sheriff's Deputies. We are called upon to rescue people along the coast and in high angle environments. We offer the opportunity to learn high angle rope work, camaraderie with your fellow team members and a chance to serve your community.
Requirements
- Must be 21 or older.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Pass a 100 hour ropes course, provided by the County over ~2 months, on weekends and evenings. The next Ropes Course is scheduled to start in September.
- Attend most training days. Training takes place once a month and alternates between a Sunday and a weekday afternoon.
- Assist team call outs when your schedule allows.
- Equipment and training are provided by the Sheriff Department.
- The team consists of both men and women.
- The team is meticulous about safety. However, should you be injured during training or a call out, you will be covered by California's Workers' Compensation Coverage for Volunteers.
- Egos and hotshots need not apply.
