Companions needed who can bring the gift of music to Hospice patients! Any form of music is needed and appreciated. Patients would love to sing along to hymns, favorite songs from their past, listen to songs played an instruments: guitars, ukuleles, violins, pianos...the sky’s the limit! Even a companion playing a song on a smart phone is needed and welcome! Shifts/times are flexible. Volunteering takes place wherever the patient calls home in and around Des Moines and surrounding suburbs: nursing homes, assisted living facilities, private homes, and at the UnityPoint Hospice Home: Taylor House. An orientation and onboarding process is provided, along with an introduction to the patient.
